A Summer With Structure

A Summer With Structure

As much as you might just want a break from the rigid schedule you have during the school year, it’s super important to maintain structure throughout the summer as well! No, I’m not saying you have to wake up at 7 a.m. all summer. I’m simply suggesting that you create a loose schedule for summer days. Here are some tips that might help you create a summer routine:

  1. Set a time to wake up – Whether it’s 6 a.m. or 10 a.m., your body needs a consistent sleep schedule to stay healthy (and summer is your time to catch up on all that lost sleep from the school year)!
  2. Write down one goal for the day – Although you may just want to lounge outside all day, it’s important to maintain productivity during the summer, even if it’s the smallest thing. For example, you could set a goal of making your bed or taking a walk. It doesn’t have to be a crazy, difficult goal!
  3. Limit screen time – Summer is your time to get outside, socialize with friends, and spend time with family. Don’t waste it away sitting inside looking at a screen! This doesn’t mean you can’t spend any time checking social media or binge watching shows; it will simply help you make the best of your summer while it’s here.
  4. Keep a fitness routine – It can be easy to forget about fitness without the presence of the routine school and sports provide. Make sure you keep up with yours, even if it’s as simple as a daily walk! Your body will thank you when school comes back around the corner.

All of these ideas might help you stick to a summer routine during your off months. Trust me, you will be so glad that you did when you have to jump right back into the strict schedule of school!
